Parenting has become exponentially harder as of late. Without careful attention to a parents' own self-care needs, and without support, it can be hard to know how to navigate the challenges children face at each stage of development and how to support them best. Within parenting support sessions, we will explore your areas of concern to help get your child back on track and to strength your parent-child bond. I am also trained in SPACE, a parenting program developed at the Yale Child Study Center, for the caregivers of anxious children, and I offer this treatment approach to parents as appropriate.
When communication fails and conflict is high, it can often be helpful to have a neutral and supportive venue to work on your family relationships and learn new skills. I believe strongly in a family's ability to take on, and conquer, any challenge when they have learned effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
Individual therapy is successful when someone feels they have gained insight into their feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships and when they can use this insight to develop new problem-solving skills. I utilize an array of therapy techniques, including cognitive-behavioral, attachment-based, psychodynamic, and mindfulness strategies to approach my client's problems, depending on their needs and preferences.
I provide consultations and professional development to many systems working to support the needs of students, children, and families. Please contact me for more information on presentation topics.
Peer supervision can serve as an essential support for clinicians working with children and families with complex needs. I serve as a peer supervisor to community clinicians as well as to students seeking pre- and post-doctoral internship hours.
The process of beginning therapy is so hard. In fact, getting started often keeps people stuck. I understand this and I strive to help with all stages of the therapy process.
Contact me to set up a phone consultation to determine how you feel about my style, my treatment experience, and how I answer your questions.
We will begin with a diagnostic evaluation that will allow you to share what has brought you into treatment, will allow me to collect all relevant information needed, and we will discuss the beginning stages of treatment.
Weekly or bi-weekly appointments will provide the support you need. You will find that I will check in with you, we will consistently assess progress, and we will shift the course of treatment as necessary to meet your needs.
I accept self-pay for all services and will provide you with the information you need to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
